Dr Michael Jamieson

Dr Michael Jamieson, BMed(Newc) FACSP FFSEM(UK)

Dr Michael Jamieson is an Australian trained Sport and Exercise Physician and a Fellow of both Australasian and the United Kingdom Colleges of Sport and Exercise Medicine.  He specialises in musculoskeletal conditions, traumatic and overuse injuries. He also is interested in Health and Wellness including exercise prescription.

He completed his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle in 1988.  He subsequently completed Advanced Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine and obtained his Fellowship of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians in 1998.

Internationally, Dr Jamieson undertook two Fellowships in Sport and Exercise Medicine.  The first – at the University of Calgary working with Canadian Winter Olympic Teams and Varsity Athletes.  The second – at Stanford University, California where he worked with Varsity athletes and developed a process for comprehensive Multi-station Athletic Screening. 

Michael has published in the field of Objective Assessment of Concussed Athletes.

Dr Jamieson has worked as the Club Doctor for St George Rugby League Football Team from 1996 to 1999 inclusive.  He was the Team Doctor for the Wallabies, the Australian Rugby Union Team from 2000 to 2004 inclusive.  Dr Jamieson is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Western Sydney.

He is a past President of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians and a member of the Australian Medical Association.  Dr Jamieson is the Clinical Director of the Hurstville Musculoskeletal Institute.

Jodie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, recognised by the Dietitians Association of Australia. Jodie is passionate about educating and promoting health through nutrition. She enjoys working with her patients and their families as they navigate food choices, preferences and healthy eating guidelines. Jodie will work with her clients to ensure every person can feel confident and supported in reaching their health goals.

She has a special interest in bariatric surgery and is an associate member of the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society. Jodie has also completed the Medical Nutrition Therapy in Bariatric Surgery course, run by the DAA Centre for Advanced Learning.

Tara is our Senior Physiotherapist at Hurstville Private Hospital and Hurstville Community. Tara has previously worked in Private Practice and the Public Hospital system, so has experience in a variety of caseloads. She has completed an Intensive Women’s Health course as she has a passion for helping women in all stages of life. Tara also has a special interest in the assessment and management of Vertigo and Vestibular Disorders, Musculoskeletal chronic pain conditions.

Hip and Knee Surgeon
Dr Razvan Stoita

Dr Razvan Stoita is an experienced specialist orthopaedic hip knee surgeon with expertise in hip and knee replacement surgery, knee ligament reconstruction and trauma of the lower limb. This includes complex pelvic and acetabular reconstruction, some of the most difficult of all orthopaedic surgery.

After completing his Orthopaedic Training in Sydney, Dr. Razvan Stoita travelled to London, United Kingdom where he did further subspecialty training in complex surgery of the hip and the knee with leading UK orthopaedic hip and knee surgeons, Mr. S. Bridle and Mr. P. Mitchell at the St George’s Hospital and The Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Epsom, Surrey. This is the largest joint replacement unit in the UK. This was complemented by a clinical fellowship in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction with world leading surgeons at the St George’s Hospital, which is the largest pelvic and acetabular trauma unit in London. Dr Razvan Stoita also visited the world-renowned Helios Endo-Klinik in Hamburg, Germany for further training in primary and revision joint arthroplasty and periprosthetic infection treatment.

Dr Hamish Rae

Dr Hamish Rae has over 10 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery and has worked in public and private hospitals throughout Sydney, Australia and the United Kingdom. Dr Rae has now established the Orthoelite practice with Dr Razvan Stoita to provide specialist orthopaedic services to the community of Sydney through three convenient locations , Hurstville Private Hospital, Kareena Private Hospital in Caringbah, and Sydney Private Hospital in Ashfield. Dr Rae also performs trauma and emergency surgery at St George and Sutherland Public Hospitals.

Foot and Ankle Surgeon
Dr Mohamad Mourad

Mohamad has special interests in sports-related orthopaedics – particularly knee surgery, as well as hand surgery, foot surgery and fractures. He strongly promotes evidence-based decision making and collaborating with patients throughout the surgical process. Mohamad graduated in medicine from Sydney University. He is an examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is often called as an expert witness in workers compensation cases.

He has a Lebanese background but grew up in Venezuela before migrating with his parents to Australia. Mohamad is fluent in Spanish and Arabic.

Pain Physician
Dr Tim Ho

Tim is a specialist in pain and rehabilitation medicine and has a particular interest in complex musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain. In particular, he is focused on return-to-work services for WorkCover patients, impairment calculation, as well as dual diagnosis of chronic pain and opioid dependence. Tim promotes a patient-centred, goal-oriented approach to pain management. He also has an interest in interventional pain procedures. Tim graduated in medicine from the University of NSW. He also works in addiction medicine and at a vocational capacity centre. Tim grew up in Taiwan before migrating with his parents to Australia. He is fluent in Chinese and Taiwanese.

Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr Leonard Kuo

Dr Leonard Kuo is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who has been in private practice since 1995. After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1985, he went on to complete his Orthopaedic training on the Sydney AOA Training Programme in 1994. Two further years were spent in a post graduate fellowship gaining additional experience in joint replacement, shoulder surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. Since then he has carried out many thousands of joint replacements and arthroscopic procedures in both the public and private sector.

Dr Kuo is the Orthopaedic Department Head and supervisor of junior doctors at the Canterbury Hospital. He is an Emeritus Orthopaedic Consultant at Sydney Children’s Hospital, a teaching hospital of the University of NSW.  

Dr Kuo specialises in surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder.  His particular subspecialty interests include joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.

Knee, Foot and Ankle Surgery
Dr Jacob Kaplan

Dr Jacob Kaplan is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon. He is focused on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of disorders of the Knee, Foot & Ankle. He completed his orthopaedic training in NSW and then underwent subspeciality Knee, Foot and Ankle surgery training in Toronto, Canada. He performs all types of knee, foot & ankle surgery including minimally invasive forefoot surgery, ankle replacement, knee replacement, sporting injuries, treatment of degenerative and arthritic conditions, deformity correction and fracture treatment. Dr Kaplan is an active member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. In addition he is active in the Canadian and American foot and ankle societies. Dr Jacob Kaplan is involved in international research in regard to the developing area of ankle replacement and is an active member of the orthopaedic outreach, providing orthopaedic care in the South Pacific.
